The County Championship starts today and above is my squad on the Cricket XI fantasy cricket platform.
I’ve tried to avoid players that will be playing internationals or the IPL etc. I have a habit of selecting fantasy teams via my heart not my head but am optimistic that this is a practical and strong selection.
Middlesex wicketkeeper John Simpson captains the side with Yorkshire gloveman Jonny Tattersall his deputy.
Australians Peter Handscomb and occasional bowler Travis Head feature in my batting line-up alongside Rory Burns and Leus du Plooy, who I think might chip in with the ball too.
Highly-rated youngster Tom Lammonby and Rob Keogh are my all-rounders. Ex-Yorkshireman Ed Barnes is my reserve having relocated to Leicestershire. Hopefully he’ll get plenty of game time.
The reliable Mohammed Abbas leads my bowling attack with Kemar Roach, Marchant de Lange and Matt Milnes for company. At the very least, I’d expect de Lange to contribute with the willow.
Two Toms, Abell and Taylor, are in reserve and make it a hat-trick of Toms in the squad.
As the season progresses, I’ll let you know how I’m getting on!
