Au Revoir FC Nantes?

My wife is from Nantes therefore I follow Les Canaris in Ligue 1, though it looks like I might soon be following them in Ligue 2!

It’s fair enough really. During the last decade the likes of Jordan Veretout, Leo Dubois and Valentin Rongier have all felt it necessary to leave in order to play in the Champions League and/or fulfil international ambitions. The money received from those sales has usually been spent on a number of decent but unspectacular players. That and the managerial merry go round that has followed the five year stability of Mikael der Zakarian’s tenure, mean that it might be a trip to Paris FC next season not Paris Saint-Germain! Clermont Foot, Rodez and Dunkerque could also be fixtures to look forward to.

That said, after I originally scripted this post, the men in yellow defeated PSG 2-1… though followed up by disappointingly conceding a late equaliser at home to Lorient.

The last couple of performances provide reason for optimism but things still need to improve!
