We headed to a little wood on the other side of town that we’d never visited before.
It’s been a struggle to find variety whilst staying local when it comes to accessible walks. Truth be told, it was exceptionally muddy following heavy rain so not practical for a pushchair or my daughter’s walking frame.
We didn’t stay too long but were treated to a fantastic display from the resident heron. Unfortunately, I don’t think that I can upload a video but please enjoy a couple of photos. The heron seemed to devour a fish and also flew back and forth across the pond.
I’ve seen heron in rivers and marshy land on a few occasions as well as flying straight down our street on a snow filled Christmas Day when I was a kid. This one seemed bigger than others that I’ve seen, though it may have just been that I was closer!
